Britax designed the Chaperone with an ergonomic handle to make holding the infant carrier easier. Though as baby approaches 30 lbs, carrying the car seat becomes more of an effort no matter how ergonomic the carry handle. At that point, simply leave the car seat locked into the base and know that baby is safest rear-facing.

Installation: The Britax Chaperone has a stay-in-car base that allows you to easily remove the carrier from the car without waking baby.

The Chaperone may be installed either with or without the Britax Chaperone Car Seat Base; however, using the base makes achieving the proper rear-facing angle a whole lot easier. The base includes an integrated belt lock-off for easy belt installation

Install the car seat using either your vehicle's seat belts or the car seat's LATCH connectors. Push-button lower LATCH connectors provide a quick, simple, and tight installation.

A recline adjustment knob on the base helps places the seat at the proper angle while a level indicator on the Chaperone car seat tells you when the car seat is at the correct angle.
